Welcome to the Harwell Women's Institute.
We play a unique role in village life as, through us, women of all ages are offered opportunities to enjoy friendship, to learn, to widen their horizons and to take part in issues which matter to us and the community,
It is all there for members to take part in as little or as much as they like.
Our main focus is on monthly meetings, but you will see us involved in many various village events and supporting village life.
Community Projects include
stalls at various events supporting the church, School, Feast and village hall; Tree Planting; Coffee mornings; and
Raising funds for Against Breast Cancer, our local charity
We've been to the Pendon Museum, and this year to
Maharajah's Well and
Miele.
We try cater for all, and occasionally include practical speakers where we all have a go at making something.
Denman College, our national adult education centre in nearby Marcham offers a range of courses on diverse interests.
Members enjoy lectures, organised by the Oxfordshire Federation.
Speakers have included Ben Fogle,
Jenni Bond and
Gervase Phinn .
In spring 2007 we visited the Stoke Row WI where we were given a guided tour of the village and the Maharajah's Well, followed by excellent refreshments. Partners came with us, but as you can see, most were camera shy.
