Harwell Women's Institute

Activities

We meet on the second Wednesday of every month (except August) at 7.30 pm in the Harwell Village Hall.

This year's programme is proving both entertaining and informative.  Our speakers address a large variety of topics and we particularly enjoy learning about local businesses and issues.  Katie Napper spoke to us about Q Gardens and what goes on behind the scenes.

W I has a more serious side to it.  Each year resolutions on national issues are discussed and voted on in every institute in the country.  This year the subjects were the Banning of Destructive Trawling for Fish and Providing Appropriate Treatment for Mentally Ill Prisoners.  If passed nationally these resolutions are then presented to the Government so the W I is a force to be taken seriously, as Tony Blair discovered when he attended the National AGM!
